Insulating under bay window forum.
Quite often the insulation in this area is dealt with long after the framing is finished and results in a very cold drafty spot in the house.
So was thinking to use foam board to insulate the bottom but no idea what to use to clad it with.
There appears to some kind of felt exposed now see pics below.

No vapour barrier is required and the foam blocks a considerable amount of sound transmission from the outdoors too.

Side walls also need insulating if no cavity exists.

I need to insulate the wall under a bay window.
The area in the basement is finished but i can access the subfloor from inside the basement and i also am able to remove the soffit from the outside.
50 mm celotex bonded to plaster board.
I have removed the plasterboard and there is a 75mm airspace then roofing felt and the back of the external render.
I would like the underside of the bay to look nice.

So once i d ripped out the lath and plaster i wanted to the opportunity to insulate the bay before it is replastered.
In process of renovating and trying to do some of the work myself.
Either way filling the floor cavity with spray foam delivers excellent thermal insulation while also keeping drafts out of your bay window area.
Basically the bottom of the bay window is un insulated and is causing condensation to form on the wood as its warm inside and cold outside.
